Who We Are

Southface Construction is made up of a small team of professionals who have been building in the greater Bay Area for over 35 years. We are a second generation, family-run business that strives to deliver high quality work and a collaborative partnership with our clients.

David Sylvester

Owner and founder Dave Sylvester started off his journey into building by emptying ashtrays and running blueprints at his fathers architectural practice in Lafayette CA. He quickly discovered he liked the building side of creating structures and learned as a teenager to use tools and build decks and retaining walls with his father on his families steep east bay hillside home. After high school Dave moved to Santa Barbara and was hired onto a elite residential framing crew and he cut his teeth framing large, custom hillside homes in SB. Moving back to the Bay Area, Dave got his contractors license in 1985 and quickly went to work building a business. Specializing in framing, Dave and his crew framed many of the Oakland hills firestorm homes. Dave then moved onto general contracting, complete builds, and room additions. Dave has built a team of professionals, some of the sub-contractors he has teamed with for over 20 years.

Drew Sylvester

Foreman and Site Supervisor Drew Sylvester is the son of Dave and a second generation builder. Drew got his start in construction as a little kid helping sweep up his dad’s construction sites. He has worked for a number of different contractors in the Bay Area, and in 2018 started teaming up with his old man full time.

Saul cardenas

Foreman Saul Cardenas has been working for Southface Construction since 2008. A talented builder and exceptional finish carpenter, you will often see Saul near the second half of the construction phase as he transforms a rough construction site into a beautiful finished product.
